Hey there! So I’m a writer, doing my writer thing, trying to finish my book and get published and become more involved in the (apparently) expansive writing community here in San Diego.
I graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 2009, and spent the next year and a half travelling and living and teaching in China. I moved to San Diego in August of 2011 and have been scoping out the scene and getting a feel for this city and my place in it. My book is coming along, and I’m happy to see that page count growing larger every day. I’ve overcome some major obstacles in the course of writing this book, and 2013 will be the year I publish.
There’s still a long road ahead of me, including the tribulations of navigating my way through the traditional publishing industry, but I feel oddly confident that it isn’t something I really need to worry about. I’ll come to it when I do, and when I’m there I’ll manage somehow. Grit and determination have gotten me this far, and I can’t see why they’d let me down now.

Hello Idlelore, I am Wanda Griffith, and I am so please to meet you. I am also writing a book, that I hope will be out this year. It is so nice to meet a writer and someone who has been to China. Wow! that is exciting. Do you have an agent for your book? and who is your publisher? I am thinking of letting xulon publishing do my book. I am finish writing my book, I am just doing the finishing touches, trying to cut down on the expense of as much editing as I can, they charge by the words you know. lol. I would like to get a copy of your book when you are done, what is the title of it? My title is Secrets revealed, the best of both worlds. So, as writers and bloggers, I hope we can keep in touch, and exchange books when they are published, hopefully as you said, this year 2012. Thanks for allowing me to share on your blog. Wanda Griffith

Hi Person, great blog here. i will be coming back. Let me know if you are interested in posting a short or flash fiction piece to my Short Attention Span Press…We would love to see your work there.
thanks a ton! I appreciate it, for sure. I’m not sure I’ll be doing any short pieces any time soon, but if I do, I’ll come back and let you know. You’ve got a great site, I’d be honoured to be a part of it =)
Nice to hear from you. San Diego is one of the places I once lived, long ago. I spent much of my youth traveling the country and playing music, and I think it’s a great inspiration for a writer. I don’t have much time to follow many blogs, but I’ll be following yours.
I love stories, and I love the idea behind idle lore. Rich name, rich theme
Intrigued by your blog and experiences. Perhaps that’s because I can relate to some of them…when I graduated I went and taught English in *Japan* for a year and now am back on the west coast, working in earnest at becoming a novelist
Wow! We have nearly parallel experiences. I graduated and went to teach English in China. I think I probably would have preferred Japan. I think I probably would have preferred the bubonic plague, honestly, but that’s another story lol. But yeah, came back to the west coast and am trying to get my novel published! Good for you, I always wish kindred spirits the best of luck, it’s nice to think that I’m not toiling alone out here lol.

You live in the city that hosts Comic-Con?
Your life rules, buddy!
haha thanks! It’s a fun city, and yeah, comic con is a blast. If you can get tickets lol
Maddie set me over to say hello … HI in San Diego from Cincinnati (it’s cold here).
Nice to hear about another writer navigating the publishing world. best of luck.
Hi Pearson, nice to meet you
You sound really focused on your writing goals, and I think it’s great that you are not thinking too much about the publishing world, but choosing to keep your eye closer at hand – on your book. So many of my students (I teach on a few MA courses in the UK) are already panicking about agents when I think: you need to finish your book and make sure it’s the very best you can do before even thinking about the next step. Good luck for the year ahead!
I sincerely wish you all the best with our book and hope that you do well with its publication. I admire when people have the courage to live their dream. All the best and God bless.
