There are so many wonderful children’s books about stars! It’s hard to choose just a few, but here are some of our favorites.
In “The Starry Messenger” by Peter Sís, a young Galileo looks up at the night sky and is inspired to learn more about the stars. This beautifully illustrated book is perfect for inspiring budding astronomers of all ages.
“The Watcher” by Jeanette Winterson is a magical story about a girl who discovers a star that has fallen from the sky. She nurses it back to health and then sets it free, but the star continues to visit her and they become friends.
“The Star Fisher” by Laurence Yep is a classic tale about a Chinese-American family in the early 20th century. When the family’s youngest daughter, Joan, sees a falling star, she makes a wish that changes her life forever.
“When the Moon Was Our Only Light” by Robert Vescio is a beautiful and lyrical story about a young girl who grows up in a world without stars. When she finally sees the night sky for the first time, she is amazed and inspired.
“The Star” by Chris Van Allsburg is a simple but powerful story about a young girl who finds a fallen star and makes a wish. This is a classic Van Allsburg tale that will stay with you long after you’ve read it.
